"The Blessed Wainwright"

Just been re-watching that brilliant BBC documentary about AW Wainwright - The Man Who Loved The Fells. What a curmudgeonly, obsessive old so and so he was. Not an easy man to get on with I should imagine. But what a magnificent achievement his books are and what a legacy to leave.

There are many full colour all singing all dancing coffee table books dedicated to The Lake District these days, but do any of them match his seven books? And all hand written - before the age of the computer and all that IT wizardry. They are superb and to anyone who loves The Lakes an enduring piece of reading.

Anyone else see the programme?
