I have really enjoyed watching Strictly over the years. ---- But is this year's offering going to be the start of it's downfall.   Poor choice of unknown " Celebrities " and the same old tired format in production is not inviting.

Will I still watch it ? -- Probably   Am I looking forward to it this year.-- Not Really

Yes I loved Alexandra too. I thought Debbie was brilliant but she started from a higher level than any of the others, I think she certainly benefited from the experience after the loss of her husband.

I was kinda jaded at the start but stuck with it and as usual the final was F A B U L O U S

Well, another year where the best dancer didn't win, in my humble opinionyell

Such a shame that the judges couldn't judge.

It turns it into a popularity contest and not a dancing contest, throughout the series, two ladies have been the best and I think that the younger one was the best tonight......cool

I have to agree that it's a shame that the judges alone do not decide the winner. But that would mean a loss of revenue 😉, although with online voting that may have diminished anyway.

I thought all the dancing in this year's final was very good. However, for me the show is about taking celebrities who are not dancers and watching them learn and progress. Joe was given a maximum score by the judges for his last dance so fits that criteria perfectly. Gemma also did a lot better in the final than I expected based on previous weeks.

It was debatable whether the other two fit the not dancers bit.

Obviously this result system will never please everyone but how about this idea which may just go some way. Why not have different categories such as best overall performance, best overall dancer, most improved, most cringeworthy, most humorous? I'm sure other categories could be considered!

last night, all the contestants upped their game. Excellent dancing from each of them. Any one of the four were good enough to win, Joe had come from being a non-dancer at the start of the series, to an entertaining and excellent dancer who won the competition.

I enjoyed last nights programme, having recorded it, I was able to zap through the boring bits and just watch the dances, the judges comments and the final prize giving.

I was pleased that Joe and Katya won.  All the finalists were worthy of their places in the final, and any of them could have won.  I think that  Alexandra was no better than some of the others, and they were under marked and criticised by the judges much more than she was.  Her dances weren't free from mistakes.  Indeed, the Salsa, at the end of which she was heard apologising to Gorka for something (I think she missed a lift at the end) in the semi final, went on to score 40.  It may be that people felt the judges were biased in her favour, and decided not to vote for her.  It's been reported in The Guardian that she's stated people didn't vote for her because of racism. Total rubbish, in my opinion.
