Happened upon this series on Channel 5 tonight, the full title being Britain's Most Scenic Railway Journey: Minute By Minute. It featured the  West Highland route to Mallaig. There was minimal commentary, mainly just a video as the train made its way along the track. Some might think if boring but somehow I found it very therapeutic with mainly just the clickety-click of the steam engine.

I used to like watching ‘Swiss Railway Journeys’, mostly for the magnificent scenery. I’ll get me coat 🙄😉

We watch similar programmes at times as a wind down, a while back was a canal journey with the 'chug chug chug' of the engine along with the wildlife sounds, covered about 4 miles in the hours programme.

Another we watched last week on BBC4 and available on 'catchup' is 'The Great Mountain Sheep Gather', where the farmers and dogs ascend Scafell Pike to bring down the sheep for shearing, along with some drone footage. The only sounds being the bleating of the sheep, whistles and shouts from the dog handlers and the occasional narration from the shepherd.

We had this on too. Really enjoyed it in the background.

There' was one from Auckand to Milford Sound NZ, recently I believe BBC 4 may still be available on catch up? Although that cheats and takes to the roads - not much of a rail system in NZ.

I'll look out for the sheep one, thanks for the heads up. I enjoyed the canal journey - I loved the chug of the train last night too.

I enjoyed the one of reindeer herds, cant think of the title embarassed,. I live them at anytime but they're really lovely at the moment when you really want escape on so many levels 😉.
