Whats happening at Longleat?

I've heard today that caravanners will no longer be able to drive to Longleat in front of the house. From now on you will have to drive down the narrow back lane. I have been told that you can't get on site until 1pm and you must be off by 12 noon. Most of the lane from the club site is narrow and winding. Just passing a car is difficult enough. The prospect of meeting a lorry or another caravan going in the opposite direction is daunting beyond belief.

Longleat has recently had a new Chief Executive who is clearly making his presence felt. As I understand it you will not be able to walk around the estate when the place is not officially open and dogs are certainly not welcome. Security men now patrol and will stop people out of hours.

Incidentally, these changes are being made because of insurance implications - whatever they are.

I've cancelled our booking and will instead go to a CL. All the best to those still going on the new route.
