Just had our booking cancelled at this site, luckily found somewhere else.  Staff shortages have brought about an early closure. The details are on the site page. Sad to see sites struggling to find staff.

Why are staff shortages so prolific? Nurses, doctors, HGV drivers, hospitality staff...  Has everyone suddenly retired. Apparently job vacancies now top a million. Doubtless we are still shelling out loads of "jobseekers allowance".

CY, I'm no economist either but as we have loads of vacancies, why can't businesses get staff....

I (incorrectly?) thought unemployed folk might be keen/interested/desperate (delete as appropriate) to find something with all the bills set to sky rocket.

perhaps the 'benefits' of one outweigh the other?

if the incentive to go to work is so minimal over not bothering.....

...and why can only foreign folk pick fruit, fgs??

beats me.

Evening

They've long gone jv.

When we get back from "over there" in November we will be helping out where we can. There's just not enough staff available at present.

If there's not enough site to run the site then where will they get staff to run it on race days?

Also isn't there a bank of reserve wardens on stand by for things like this?

A few years ago ,there was a bit on Anglia news about this area and complaints from the "unemployed" in Peterborough that Eastern Europeans were taking jobs that should be done by them

Anglia TV and a large agricultural employer tried to get some staff from this area, ,I think they got very few takers ,as the majority would not take up the work as it was "hard work for little money over their benefits"

As for this club ,from quite a few conversations with those were "site support" (relief staff) many have now retired, for various reasons but it seems, from conversations that a new (last year )director has been making waves and still is causing problems amongst site staffundecided

Let the wardens "warden" and get others in to clean the toilets, etc.  I'm sure there are loads of self employed cleaners from the local site area who'd be happy to get work for an hour or so every day.

At Uttoxeter there are details about race day bookings but cancellation notices could also go out if no "reserve" staff can be found for these limited days.
