Hi everyone

could I please ask , does anyone tow a caravan with a ford custom dciv?
We have just changed our vehicle to one and I can’t book anything as the club booking system is saying it’s too big , but we have seen bigger towing vans on sites? We have a coachman pastiche 560/4 2010 , for the past 12 years we have towed with a freelander 2 and the same van , can anyone please advise

It should not matter what you are towing with, it the dimensions of the caravan (shipping length) that matter not the whole outfit.

 Very strange!

I looked at Bridlington, selected your date, put in van up to 5m and our caravan, which is 8m, and there was no protest about size.

What type of pitch were you trying to book?

Just stick 5metres in for length of tow vehicle. It will be the stupid new software package that’s designed for overseas. Hope you get it sorted👍

It looks like ticking "van" rather than "car" produces the red message box. It might be due to the use of the previous European booking system which has not been properly adapted for uk bookings?

That doesn't work either, tda. It is the tow vehicle type that is causing the statement in red. I put in a car of 6 m length at Altneharra, just as an example and it was ok, but changing it to a van and the red banner came up!! Guess T&M will just have to phone HO to clear up the issue, as it obviously another problem with the new booking software.

I would just stick anything in to be honest, unless you have a huge caravan or MH, it doesn’t really make much difference. We seldom put right info in for our MH, always go longer as we are wary of being shoved into some micro pitch, like some of those at YRP. And we have towed with more than one of our cars in the past. So long as your sleeping unit isn’t longer than the limit for the site, it doesn’t really matter.

Sounds like it Nellie☹️ Things just get better……I don’t think. Pity the poor staff dealing with all this. Five months into new system and it’s still giving grief🤷‍♀️
