Which part of Scotland are you visiting? It’s a big place.

There aren't a lot of CLs in Scotland so you won’t have a great deal of choice. If you don’t want to use full blown club sites, why not consider some of the privately owned sites which will increase your options considerably.

TW is the Scotland expert - he goes north from Cornwall whereas we go south. But I agree with him that you need to use a range of resources - Pitchup, Search of Sites, UKcampsite..co.uk , plus good old Google, as well as relying entirely on CLs.

I’m not sure about 'expert', Euro, but thankyou. When it comes to CLs, Nellie has a Master's degree in the subject. Once we have an idea of area, it’ll be easier to give advice.

A nice CL about 5 miles West from Berwick upon Tweed is Foulden Hagg. Has two pitching areas, fabulous views, lots to see and do in area. Another one, slightly further North, and good for North Berwick, Edinburgh is East Fortune Farm. You can hop on train into Edinburgh close by, or head South on train of course.

Gartfairn cl at Drymen, has amazing views towards Loch Lomond.

South Port O'Spittal in the Stranraer area of Dumfries and Galloway is one of our faves.

Landis Farm cl near Dumfries is beautiful.

Ashieburn House at Ancrum near Jedburgh is very pretty and has a lovely small woodland walk attached.

Bioran Dubh cl near Appin is small but has a stunning location. However, even better is a private site (7 pitches) called Creagan Station Tourers right on banks of Loch: we were supposed to be going in June😒

Now your askinglaughing It all depends on what one wants from a CL, these are ones that we've used and will do again hopefully.

I think that Keil Croft is now closed, CY.

Up the east and back down the west:-

I agree with tda regarding Foulden Hags, and East Fortune....then there's Slatebarns at Roslin nearer Edinburgh. Monturpie at Upper Largo in Fife, Fernlea at Errol between Perth and Dundee, Greenpark at Banchory, Fjord Inn nr Inverurie, and Smithy Croft at Fraserburgh, Sunnybrae at Buckie, Geddes House  at Nairn, Davochfin at Dornoch and The Crofter's Snug nr Thurso.  Not sure along the top or the N West although the club's Altnaharra site is like a large CL and  if you can get on it there's Dallachulish at Barcardine. Agree with "the bells" about Gartfairn, then onto Dumfries and Galloway and there's Port Logan Caravan site, but you need good weather for there,  Mains of Machermore at Newton Stewart, Drummuckloch at Gatehouse of Fleet, Mollance Fm at Castle Douglas and either Landis Fm at New Abbey or Partridge Cottage at Dumfries, and finally Highlands at Lochmaben or N Whine at Ecclefechan. A few more to consider are Newark Fm, Sanquhar, The Bairnkine  at Jedburgh, and a new one at Crief, Islam Bank.

Hope that gives you some ideas!!

I have left an odd few out which I personally wouldn't recommend unless the OP is an ardent CL fan and the odd one or two that we've not used yet.wink

I can though recommend Beecraigs County Park site at Linlithgow. If you go mid week out of high season it's as cheap and as quiet as many CL's.

Wasn't there one you used overlooking the Pentland Firth, Nellie, near the Castle of Mey?
