I have long thoughtt that site provision is not keeping abreast of Membership rises.

No idea on site provision increases. Yes on some sites they do seem to have shoe horned more pitches in.

This extract from the planning statement for the Southport site extension does give some figures though.

'

Over recent years there has been a marked change in the recreational
caravanning market. Gone are the days when significant numbers toured from
site to site. The trend to take shorter holidays coupled with inordinate increases
in fuel prices have over-lain a continual rise in the popularity of caravanning
throughout society but most noticeably within the higher socio-economic
groupings. Reflecting this fact, family membership of the Caravan Club has
grown exponentially from approximately 250,000 10 years ago to more than
380,000 in 2010 and the Club can therefore be considered as representing in the
order of one million active caravaners. The Club’s sites are generally regarded to
be at the upper end of the market serving predominantly A and B socioeconomic groupings.
