Supermarkets for Click & Collect UK-wide

We are taking delivery of a motorhome soon after a long break from caravanning and looking forward to some adventures. We usually liked to use local farm shops, bakers etc but always stocked up on basics at a supermarket close to the club site. During the pandemic we have been shielding and having home delivery only. I appreciate that this is unlikely to be allowed to club sites so click and collect would seem the next best option for us. Does anyone know which supermarkets cover most UK areas or where we can see a map? We are likely to want to cover much of England, Wales & Scotland and may need to register with more than one. Many thanks

For example...the Tesco website lists which of their stores here in Cornwall are the ones which offer click and collect - there are four. No doubt if I looked on that same website for their other store locations in other parts of the country it would tell me which of of them offer it too.

And probably the websites for other supermarkets will inform you too. Have a look.

Availability of Click and Collect might be governed on whether you are a regular customer of that supermarket, some have made special arrangements for vulnerable customers. If all your shopping tends to come from the same supermarket I would suggest you start researching the stores from that supermarket group as your log in could give you priority. It also depends on how long you intend being away for. We tend mainly, in current circumstances, to go away for 4 day stays which means we can generally take enough food with us to see us through. If we are on a multi site tour we tend to check out the supermarkets en route, Google Earth being very useful to check out parking space.

Tesco cover a fair bit of the UK and do click and collect from a lot of their sites. We have been having home deliveries from them since lockdown one. Just checked availability at our local store for C&C and you would have to be planning 4 days ahead. As holidays get underway and in holiday hotspots this may extend somewhat.

Scotland has more Tesco stores than any other but out in the remote areas you're only likely to find Co-op stores. As has been said, look up the supermarkets' websites for details of stores.

We use supermarket deliveries all over UK, have done for years. Simply register with the ones that cover the areas you fancy visiting, and then you are away. We use Tesco in the main, find they have largest number of stores, so I would start there. All you have to do is simply remember to change the address where you want your delivery (we use holiday cottages, but in agreement with CL owners, we have had odd delivery to a CL). You just need to change the store where you want to collect from, close to where you are staying. We are registered with Asda, Morrison’s and Waitrose as well, but tend to stick to Tesco’s mainly as find their website excellent, intuitive and very easy to change details. Once you have had a delivery to a holiday address, the Tesco website offers it as an alternative, so if like us you use somewhere on a regular basis, it is easy.

Dont forget to change back to your home address once you get home👍

Certainly, if our Tesco is anything to go by, home type deliveries would have to be very well planned. Currently it is about the best it has been since March 2020 and everything for 3 weeks ahead is booked up.

Many thanks for that to all. It sounds like I need to register with Tesco now and get booking ahead. My current supplier has been great for home delivery  through lockdown but doesn’t do click and collect unfortunately. We will take some supplies when we set off but we are starting with a super small Motorhome 5.7 metres so can’t take much with us!

Why not register with all the supermarket chains? And then when you need to shop, go on each website, input your location site post code, and find the most local click & collect.

At home, we regularly rotate around Sainsbury & Tesco, but occasionally use Asda & Waitrose.  Our choice is driven by a combination of availability and variety of choice, although at times, out-of-stocks is also a factor.

Last year, due to Covid, CAMC allowed deliveries to sites. Check out the on site Covid details as they get updated. smile

Hi

You're right Brue , last year deliveries were permitted to the site gates, or arrival areas. Seemed to work well although on a couple of occasions at Looe we had 2 or 3 supermarket vans queueing because the customer wasn't around. Not sure what the brief is for this year yet but I reckon it will be similar, meet the van by the gate type thing.
