Smart Metering Trial

Exciting News! At Wyatts Covert Club Campsite we’re trialling Smart Metering, which means you will only pay for the amount of electricity you use during your stay.

The price quoted for bookings at this campsite excludes electricity (with campsite fees reduced accordingly) and we will only charge you for the precise amount of electricity you use during your stay.

This is something many members have been asking for and we’re really pleased to be able to trial it this year! Find out more at https://www.caravanclub.co.uk/smartmetering/

My main reason for using this thread was for info regarding the metering costs involved at Wyatts Covert from anyone willing to share that info. - Would not have gained this knowledge or known there was a tablet available for members use ref metering so thanks to poster H1UBS.

Good luck to all who use the metering system.  I feel it could prove costly during the colder months unless one mostly uses gas

The cost details are displayed on the link in the OP’s post N1805, scroll down as they are near the bottom👍

Thanks – I saw the cost per kilowatt (variable) also found that the poster said what he did and did not use along with his costs over his time there to be useful info.

Feedback from people using the metering system is obviously being collected, there's really no need to have all these little digs all the time you know. Just ends up with threads getting locked.

Dave - have you not got a 10 year old niece or nephew who could run you through the basics?  wink

Posted on 03/07/2023 21:36

Yes I have 18 and 16 year old granddaughters I can’t keep up with them. They show me that fast that I can’t take it in.

H1UBS -  Hope you don’t mind me asking but just wondering if  you have already been asked to give CAMC feedback on your use of the metering system. I found the info in your 1st post useful to know

Posted on 03/07/2023 21:44

Funny you should ask.

I have not been asked for any feedback from CAMC regarding my experience of the metering trial.... one of the reasons I've given some on this thread !

It does seem odd that they haven't asked or perhaps they just don't value the user experience.

Thanks for answering, it’s a system I will avoid using.  Maybe CAMC will base the trial results on usage figures rather than user experience.

Yes, that’s why I thought using the system, and the way it is priced/offered might both be factors the Club would monitor via feedback.

For example, I don’t think we would have an issue using it (we have the personal devices, and a bit of techy know how to be able to use it), but it’s more the price v discount that would be more of a deciding factor for us. Take up and usage might be influenced by both factors.

I am off to Wyatts Covert soon,so set up £10.00 on my account, this account was easy to set up but I did it on my Acer Chromebook ,with one of those automated computer generated secure passwords and saved it.

This I could access with no problem on my Acer Chromebook.

However I will not be taking this laptop away with me,only my Iphone, went to access this smartmetering link only to find it would not recognise the password on my iphone.

So I have had to alter the password on my iphone on reset my password. Now I can access the link.

One other issue,it would be nice to have an link or an app to take you to the smart metering company, without having to constantly find it through the Wyatts Covert web site.(Unless this can be done somehow already)

Already this £1.00 site fees reduction look way off, however I will report back.

Glad a few people are reporting back how they are finding the new system. It does seem that an App is needed? Hopefully Fozzie will report back again at the end of his trip.

Fozzie, if you've found the webpage you can create a bookmark so that you can access it again later with one click.
