At £43 + per night for two just now the reduction seems to be minimal. There's little incentive on this basis however, light users will do better than the heavier users.

I think you'll find that the topic of metering has been raised frequently on CT, often in a positive light. The interesting bit is how the costing is applied to those of us who use and pay for sites and membership.

I am guessing the reduction is off the pitch fee element, so you will still pay the going rate per person.

It does say the Club pays a commercial tariff for its supply, not a domestic rate, but no idea what the rate per KW will be.

Yep, so many posters said there would be no reduction but the example in the link says otherwise. CAMC must think they’re in a lose/lose situation😟

I have always been what you might call a light user of electricity on campsites,fridge,battery charger and water/room heater.I object most strongly to the modern idea of awning heating,electric bbq,electric toaster,electric kettle etc.etc.So I for one will welcome metering just as long as the current all inclusive charge is reduced by the correct amount!!BUT.....we are talking about the holiday business that used to be known as a club for folk enjoying the outdoor life with a caravan!

Seems to be quite complicated to me.  I assume that by May when this starts the two sites in question will have site wide internet access, not just hotspots.  There certainly is quite a lot of missing information, which hopefully will be supplied well before the trial starts. In particular, payment rate for the electricity.  Also how the pitch reduction is calculated if more than one person staying.

This has to be welcomed but I am a little puzzled as to why the reduction varies month by month. Can anyone explain?

The biggest reduction is in months when you are likely to use a greater amount of electricity and the smallest in months when you will likely use the least. The reduction seems to be calculated to even out the overall price paid. Therefore, for an average user, the total paid should be about the same as the current fees.
