Site will not receive mail for members

Hi we are currently on Southlands caravan and motorhome site on the I of W. We have been to this site on a number of times over the years and never had any issues, as you obviously need to pay for a ferry if you are on the mainland we fully use this additional cost by staying 21 days.

I have stayed this length of time on sites before and due mainly to the good to poor to non existent  wifi on sites it is important that members can receive Mail as and when needed. I have also had small Amazon parcels ie a new Whale pump delivered to a club site and the warden even delivered it to our pitch, very nice man.

Now my wife is 70 whilst we are here and I had a card sent, one of these internet ones, it arrived via Royal Mail and the wardens refused to receive it I was notified on line it had been sent back to sender.

wondered what others members think am I expecting too much for a message on the message board like other sites, ie post for Mr ——-

I have emailed the club for comment but as always no reply, why don’t they reply?

I think if you have  a tracked parcel delivered to a site you are almost certainly going to be there to pick it up. Of all things I once had a new toilet cassette delivered to Old Hartley when we were here. I could see when the courier was due to arrive and I made sure I was at the entrance to collect it.

However I can perfectly see the reasoning of the wardens in not accepting unsolicited mail when they have to take responsibility for it's safe keeping and disposal should it not be collected. In the case of the house hunter he should have made alternative arrangements with the Main Post Office on the IOW to collect his mail from there.

That fine if you know beforehand but most sites in my experience have no issue with post stick a name on the chalk board simple, it is easy to make anything seam difficult, and how can it be unsolicited with member name and pitch number on not difficult surely.

We had the same experience, in fact we got well and truly told off! Yet we had a parcel delivered to the previous site with no problem. I did ask the warden to clarify it and make it a consistent approach amongst sites to avoid the very demeaning and upsetting telling off I received!

Before ordering your package had you asked the warden if it was fine for it to be delivered to the site, as the polite thing to do?

I cannot understand why anything needs to be sent to a campsite unless it was extremely urgent and then I would check with the warden first.  If it was a no from them it's quite easy to have it delivered to a local Post Office for collection. Why didn't the OP write a card and take it with him!

Its the same with supermarket deliveries.  Why would you need a delivery to a campsite?  Never understood that one either.

Hi OP here let me clear up your questions mbee

1 Iam well into my 70s and vulnerable category

2 since the first lock down I have never been to a shop to by food or as in this case a card.

3 I have used Moonpig ( if you don’t know what this is google it) for every card I have sent since the first lock down.

4. I have been lucky and secured a recurring delivery slot from the first lock down so I have been able to have home delivery of supermarket food etc.

Yes this holiday was our first since the first lockdown and yes we did use local shops our first visit to any shops as we were vaccinated, yes I could have bought a card but just thought it would have been an added surprise to have a Moonpig card delivered, call me after 50 years of marriage to the same lovely lady an old softy but don’t insult me with your insensitive comments.

I wasn't insulting you and my comments were not insensitive and I apologise if you took them that way.  There seems to be a consensus on here however, that you assumed the site would accept post.  My comments were "why should they?".
