Safe laybys

I have used this route a couple of times, there are laybys but I don't recall any of them being acceptable places to linger too long. Why not use a CL, plenty of them just off route. I have use Mound Lodge and Oaklands Farm before, both just off the A1 outside Peterborough. There are quite a few close to Wisbech.

I agree with PD. Get yourself to a place of safety like a site rather than take chances in a grubby lay-by.

Great advice but I'm setting off really early and won't reach Peterborough till probably 2am which no cl would allow me to park up at that time

Can you adjust your start time? You don’t give any clues about where you’re travelling from but could you start earlier and stop for the night earlier or start later and go straight to Norfolk?

Thanks I live on a park home site so I can't set off before 9am as the neighbors will complain . We only live around two and a half hours away but years ago we set off at 9 and hit kings lynn which was so rammed with traffic we didn't arrive at our site till six pm believe it or not and we were exhausted. Every year after that we would set off around 1 am and stayed in a layby near sculththorpe . I can't set off early hours now that I live where I do and we planned to just have three or four stops on the way . It also helps my poor dog who gets a bit anxious on long journeys. I'm not even sure if the Holdingham roundabout is closed at night anymore as the reports seem to be from a couple of months ago. We have been doing it this way for a couple of years now with no bother but have never gone the Peterborough way hence me asking . 

Sorry I need to add I won't be picking the van up at my storage till 9 pm as I work till 8 the day before so can't really stay anywhere

I live in a park home as well but can come and go as I would if I lived anywhere else.

It’s entirely your choice but I would leave early morning rather than risk sleeping in a lay-by.

Thanks for all the replies but  i was asking if anyone knew of any decent or safe laybys on the new route I'm taking . Im not really concerned about should I go earlier or if the place I live is different to anyone else's .I have waited in a layby for years and never had a problem as we choose one that is well away from the road itself .I will probably just drive straight there . Thanks anyway folks

I'm glad I was able to help and you’ve decided to adopt my suggestion but, as I said, it’s your choice.

It was actually you who made an issue of the place you live and departure times so I think your comments are a little bit out of place.🤷🏻‍♂️

Wasn't meaning to offend you I appreciate your comments .I only mentioned where I live because I was given advice on alternatives. I was just pointing out my original question as it was going off on a tangent  the written word is far harsher than the spoken and it was never intended to come across as bad as you perceived.
