Just had 6 nights at the great York Rowntree site, no I didn’t book 12 months in advance only a couple of weeks in advance, the site is as anyone who has been is perfect for visiting the city of York.

There are some issues at the moment, the flood defense work has caused the road to the site to be blocked for the work to be done, this has meant as I posted previously the route to the site being changed this new approach is working well. The problems are that the access to the Hotel Roomzzz is also affected thus the guests once booked in get a key to access the club site and exit through the back gate this results in a procession of Roomzzz guests walking through the site, some obviously amazed of the site they were taking photos. The back gate is now locked at 10 pm to all club and Roomzzz customers.

The other issue with this is that as it is a longer walk to the park some local youths were seen hanging around the gate hoping someone will let them in on one occasion the warden refused to let then in and was met with threats.

The Roomzzz customers were in the main nice people but on two of our 6 nights we were woke up by shouting, screaming drunken people on an external balcony over looking the site, on one occasion the warden asked them to keep the noise down and he was met with an abusive response. The hotel to their credit took immediate action and removed the group.

The wardens are doing the best they can but these issues are not in my opinion and the treats they have recieved not right for them to have to sort out. Perhaps as at a few other sites a security presence ought to be put in place.
