Planning our 2024 holiday already. Has anyone taken a caravan to the Outer Hebrides ?  We allways spend a fortnight on Arran - Lochranza - but thinking of going further. If so advice please about where to stay, as there appears not to be much.

We are terrible snobs, just the two of us and love a quiet scenic site with hopefully a pub/restaurant within a stroll! We realise thats unlikely in such a remote area but any advice gratefully accepted.

We’ve taken a panel van conversion and know other folk on here have taken caravans. We crossed from Ullapool and travelled south from Lewis through all the islands to Barra then sailed into Oban.

Just about everywhere is quiet and Sunday observance is closely followed. Pubs/restaurants are not plentiful so be prepared to cater for yourselves.

You don’t say which islands you intend to visit but you’ll find ideas and sites on the CalMac website and on UK Campsite. Read as much info as you can.

Andrew Ditton (who often writes for the Club magazine) has several video's on YouTube about visiting the Outer Hebrides which might help your quest for more information.
