Non-Refundable Deposit Policy

Thanks to a stupid mistake I booked on-line for a couple of nights at a caravan site - only it was the wrong site (similar name to the one I wanted). As soon as the email pinged back I realised the error and emailed them straight back to explain my error. However they are refusing to return the deposit, pointing to the 'no refund' policy on their website but saying that as an "act of good faith" I can redeem it at a future date, which I'm not likely to do because it's only 15 miles from my house (I did say it was a stupid mistake). It's not a CMC site but it is an affiliate so what can I do about it now? I think their 'no refunds ' policy is being applied a bit too stringently here.

Moderator Edit:

As this is only a forum for members with little staff input, I would suggest your only course of action would be to speak to somebody or write to the club's head office to express your feelings.  As you say, this is an affiliated site so it might be that the club aren't able to assist on this occasion.
