I see that our family friendly club has banned the use of the above " in line with government policy" BUT government policy decrees they are allowed on private land πŸ€”

I now step back and get ready for the response.

Of course you can - would you expect the club to allow anyone to drive around the site with a small tractor for fun? In this litigious age the club are leaving themselves open to legal action when an accident involving an escooter happens. You can be damned sure it won’t be the rogue Childs fault, or the child’s parent for abdicating responsibility. There is plenty for children to do to entertain themselves and as others have said, if use of an escooter is so fundamental to their holiday, then find a suitable site. My guess is the large commercial sites also ban their use by guests. I have seen children on adult size e-bikes in my local park causing mayhem when losing control. How would you feel if it was your caravan damaged by an out of control escooter rider?

I'd rather have a safety attitude.πŸ‘πŸ»

I see nothing "family friendly" is allowing children, teens and adults to race around sites on motorised scooters and the like. And race around they would, for sure.

If you get yourself on YouTube on one of the many ‘Dash Cam’ Channels you will see the damage & carnage they cause. My 2 G/children have them, they use them off road at mine but never on road or around crowds or cars. That is lunacy. They are great fun but are fast & poweful. I’ve been pulled sat in a 4 wheeled barrow by my G/Son on his scooter.

and that is my experience on sites where they are not banned.

I presume they are also not allowed at Club Fest?

E-scooters or E-bikes are nothing to my wife on her mobility scooter ,now she’s lethal , too busy looking at the scenery to notice where she’s going surprised

I've no feelings one way or the other re use the use of these scooters on site (on the roads is a topic in itself) My comment was about 1 rule for some & another rule for others

Your GKs are supervised and taught where it’s safe to use them, Rocky, and your post illustrates well the very reasons CAMC are right to ban their use on sitesπŸ‘

Re-read your earlier post, Wedgy.

Posted on 18/07/2023 09:43

I have and it clearly states that cars and caravan outfits are not blameless.

As for being off topic it was stated to show that other activities which can be more dangerous ir antisocial seem to be tolerated on site IMO

I am clearly swimming against the tide of opinion on here but my views will remain the same 🏊‍β™‚οΈπŸ™ƒπŸ‘

Let me help by reminding you of your earlier post as you seem to have missed it. I’m still keen to understand how you know only 3500kg MHs are the culprits.

“The most dangerous situation I have seen of late is the dash for a pitch in 3500kg vehicles at York not kids on scooters, and no I didn't take their number and report to the site management.”

I’ll add the obvious point that you won’t have seen kids on scooters as their use is banned.

Swimming against the tide? I suspect you knew that when you started the thread πŸ˜„

Sorry but I don't understand why you have a problem with the 3500kg ? Maybe I could have simply said MH's ? Would that have been less offensive?

I never expected unanimous support for my views  however I really did hope for a modicum of empathy for the kids of today who although they have all the "advantages " of modern technology do no have the freedom that we enjoyed

I'll keep swimming 🏊‍♀️ πŸ˜€

I don’t have a problem, Wedgy, other than trying to understand your obscure reference to 3500kg when you have no idea what weight MHs were involved. Not only was it a red herring but a very strange thing to post.

However, back on topic - I’m sure we all have empathy with the children wanting to play but the majority of us can see beyond that by thinking through the possible consequences of the use of such motorised 'toys' on site. Therefore, it’s absolutely clear to most of us that CAMC have applied common sense and made the right decision.πŸ‘πŸ»

I’ll now leave you to sink or swim.πŸ˜„
