MORE HARD STAND PITCHES AND LARGER AND WIDER ROADS

We have just returned from August Bank Holiday at Meathop Fell site in Cumbria. Weather wet after a very wet season. Now is the time for the sites committee to plan the spending for the start of season 2013 with hard stands replacing grass. At Meathop fell it is unfair to expect the hard pressed wardens to cope with ruined grass pitches and the grass entry areas. There needs to also be a move to extend pitches to fit the larger vans that are now sold. Many sites need this investment now. Some roads on sites have also a need to be widened to allow easier turning as some sites have never changed from when we were towing a 16 foot van in 1985 to towing a 24 foot van in 2012. It can be done but wardens need support as they are stretched at present to the limit.
