I am not convinced by the argument that MHers are not willing to pay - I certainly am if the price is reasonable.

The problem comes when the parking spaces are not large enough for a "standard size" MH - say 7.5m x 2.3m - as you then have to pay for multiple bays which, in this country, can be prohibitively expensive.

I just hope that the enlightened councils who are providing MH parking bays (good on 'em) remember that you can park a campervan in a "standard" bay but you can't park a "standard" MH in a campervan bay.

Agree.  It also increasingly the meter doesn’t allow you to pay for multiple bays.

I got fined because of this by the Bournmouth and Christchurch council but fortunately on appeal got it waived. I would love to know if the council have done anything about it since my dialogue with them but I have not been back since and won't until I find out they have made better provision for motorhomes.

We stayed at the Cromer CAMC site recently. When walking into town across a very large area of parking on the cliff top I glanced at the prices. They were predictably expensive. However, there was also the note that vehicles that could not fit in one bay should pay for two. This despite the fact there were no marked bays as the area is just gravel and grass. There were several Motorhomes parked there one towing a car, which would have required three standard bays. No idea what their policy is and wether they send out penalty notices to large vehicles that don’t pay for more than one ticket.

Steve, we parked at Runton Road car park a few years back which is the one you're describing...parked on the grass area, don't remember the fee being huge, £3 or so?....for four hours...?

I see from their website there is now a height barrier cutting off the large open grass area to MH?

Height restrictions
Height restrictions are in place at: East Runton, grassed area

the photo is from their website which contradicts the text they've added.

I don't know whether the barrier is in place but this was a good place to keep the town free from the clutter of larger vans, but far too cheaply for the council's liking as we (obviously) only paid for one space! The small hard surfaced area would require at least two spaces for most vans.

glad to see it's not about money.....🫢

No height barrier in place for the grassed area when we were there, several MH’s were parked on it.

Acording to search4sites the barriers are seasonal. Cromer has had a lot of problems with travellers in the past.
