I was recently told by a club warden that the 6 metre gap rules between pitches & the insistence on parking rear to the peg was the result of a fire officers recommendation, after a unit caught fire & destroyed both the caravan & a BMW. He did not say where this happened, but it got me wondering. Just how many serious fires have there been on club sites ? In 16 years of membership I have never seen any reference or report of one !
Given the number of units x the number of nights x the number of sites in use at any one time, surely this is overkill by the CC as in percentage terms, such incidents must be negligable.
In the meantime, anyone who needs an awning space (for whatever reason) is now prohibited from using a site like Old Hartley, where this new rule has outlawed them.
I have got my tin hat ready for the " what if " health & safety brigade, but to me this just looks like overkill.
