How honest should CC sites be in their listings?

By chance we were in Berwick-on-Tweed and realised we were passing the CC site there. If we had booked we would have left immediately.

Spittal beach was awful, strewn with wood and other debris. Perhaps we hit it on a bad day after a storm. But what had nothing to do with the weather was the dismal promenade, industrial buildings - working and derelict- and the fact that the site itself was surrounded by housing at best dreary, at worst rundown. Yet there is no mention of the site's built-up location in the listings nor do the website pictures make it clear.

Although we see a number of people loved the site,  and we have no doubt that the facilities and staff are as good as anywhere, our confidence in the handbook descriptions is shaken.  .
