Greater M/cr. Clean Air Zone impact on m/homes

Greater Manchester has approved the introduction of its Clean Air Zone for the whole of the country from next year.

Under the original proposals Motorhomes with a classification of M1 with DVLA were exempt from the £10 per day charges (vehicles with N classification were included), however in the ‘interest of parity’ they are now proposing to apply the charges to all M1/M2 vehicles but with a delayed start until June 2023.

There is a consultation being done currently https://assets.ctfassets.net/tlpgbvy1k6h2/3W7gau9Y3hH3RURweHKV8M/6e0e591a5179396798ee79b528c5c804/21-0401_GM_Clean_Air_Plan_Consultation_Document_on_Motorhomes_and_Worsley_Boundary_Sept_2021_FINAL.pdf

This would mean that anyone resident within the Greater Manchester area who’s Motorhome did not meet the Euro 6 standard would be charged £10 just for moving it off their drive, and another £10 for returning home after a day away, yet a diesel car towing a caravan would be unaffected.

Most other areas that have introduced, or are planning to do so, limit the zone to include town/city centres but not Gtr Manchester.

I know £10 is nothing in comparison to how much we spend on our hobby but it could add up to a considerable amount over the course of a year.

I wonder if the club will be responding to the consultation exercise. The zone will include the Burrs site.

Thanks for the heads up, Ann.

I'm pleased to see the motorways many of us use for shooting straight through the area are exempt.
