Grass between pitches

We are on a hardstanding pitch, next to the hardstanding is 6m of grass. So we have, car, caravan, awning (on gravel) then 6 m grass. Can I assume that half of that grass is “ours”. I know that the people on the next pitch will park their car on their “half of the grass”.

We put up a 2m deep dog pen on the grass, the warden has told us it shouldn’t be on the grass at all but we could reduce it to Im. It is only 40cm high, our dog is 13, very slow, deaf and almost blind.

What is allowed on the grass between pitches? We had our table and chairs on the grass yesterday, in the shade.

Oh, the grief those grass strips cause! surprised

Assuming you mean the grass is in front of your awning I can't see any objection  to using it for tables and chairs used while you're actually there, especially if that's where the shade is, or for the dog pen come to that. But I wouldn't leave anything there permanently or while out for the day.

Why is your  neighbour's car parked on the grass by the way?

I think it's at the warden's discretion and the firebreak rules.

We were on a CL recently and a couple had a large dog pen out, so much room and so much easier, no one minded. CAMC sites are often too cramped to really enjoy a stay.

The next pitch is a no awning pitch, and it has a camper van on it.The warden was gesturing to the grass and said if a caravan comes on that pitch they would “need” some of the grass, didn’t hear what he said really.
On a non awning pitch the car is parked on the door side of the van.

The grass strip between pitches is the required firebreak and doesn't form part of either pitch adjacent to it.  As a general rule, site staff will not object to people placing a chair, table or dog bed on it whilst you are on site but nothing of a permanent nature is permitted on this strip and it certainly isn't permitted to part your vehicle on it.

Lady Margarets site near Chirk has some hardstanding awning pitches where the car is parked on the grass strip, as these pitches are narrow and the peg is in the corner allowing only caravan and canopy/awning to fit.

The car goes onto the dividing grass strip which is at a guess about 4/5 metres in width. So car (on grass), caravan and awning on hardstanding.

In normal circumstances with a wider hardstanding that can accommodate all then the usually narrower grass division is exactly that (tables and chairs etc excepted.)

Bit confused by your post to be honest. You say next door park will want to park their car on the grass, yet further on, next door is a camper van🤷‍♀️

I would simply put your chairs, table and dog bed on a bit of the grass and enjoy it, taking all in each evening, or at least back onto the nasty hard standing bit, then simply do same next day. You could use a bit of the dog fence for shade if required, but again take it in each night. The only compromise then is not leaving the dog outside alone, although at 13 and as you say very slow, not likely to wander far anyway, particularly if you use a tie up as well. Explain to the Site staff about hot hard standing being dangerous to a dog (too hot), if they aren’t dog owners, it might not have occurred to them. It does sound as though they have recognised this though, and have compromised to a 1 metre bit of fencing. You simply need to meet each other in the middle, putting the dog’s welfare high up the agenda🤷‍♀️ Territorial “my bit, your bit” situations don’t work on tightly spaced, busy Club Sites. Hope you can compromise🙂

I was similarly puzzled by -

"On a non awning pitch the car is parked on the door side of the van."

Surely that depends where on the pitch the peg is situated and which side the door is.

I think something has been lost in translation here. If the next pitch is a non awning pitch with the peg in the corner the car would/should be parked on the door side surely? I think the confusion may be over what the warden said about  them "needing some of the grass".

Ok thanks, that all helps. We have reduced the dog  pen to 1m. The pen is green plastic mesh with 10x5 cm holes and 40 cm high, so quite inconspicuous.

Everything goes in the awning at night apart from the pet pen.

The warden has had words with a neighbour and told him “ one more word and you are off”

At reception yesterday another  lady went in to complain about the warden’ attitude,( to his wife) and left angry and unhappy.

When I arrived I explained that I had a shoulder injury and could I get some help getting my van on the pitch. Some pitches very tight, I just wanted a bit of support really.

” We have 20 arrivals this afternoon… and I don’t know where he is.”I hoped for something a little better than that.

We had two visitors yesterday, no problem.

Our neighbour asked about visitors and was told  no, so she met them off site. She is not happy either.
