Dogs Rule

This is my first attempt at posting on a message board if thats the correct term,but having read some previous posts I feel I should reintroduce the topic to stimulate an up to date discussion.

Since retiring two years ago my wife and I have enjoyed many more  short breaks to club sites far and wide all of which have been punctuated by a similar trend involving dogs and their owners.

It seems whichever site we visit the same disregard for club rules in respect of dogs is more and more evident.

I am in no way criticising any of the site wardens but feel the club is in danger of allowing our four legged friends to impact on the enjoyment of the caravanning experience for many non dog owning members.

At St Agnes Beacon I witnessed a member gesture to his pet to foul outside the awning close to our unit,similarly at Tintagel another member simply opened the awning zip,no instructions required,needless to say the dog assumed it was allowed to mess on the grass opposite and hastily obliged,when challenged about this the owner simply walked over to view the parcel and said "sorry mate I wasnt watching"

Other instances of children as young as 7 or 8 being allowed to walk dogs around site,members walking dogs on extended leads whilst filling water containers or emptying waste,"multi talented or what "

On a recent visit to Castleton a member paying no attention as her dog fouled the grass outside her awning offered the excuse of a poorly tummy!

During a very pleasant afternoon in the pub in the company of two dog owning members,also in Derbyshire we were pleased to hear they too had noticed the general decline in standards of ownership,they though had left their pets in the van for the day!...... they did though assure us they "always check their pitch and clear up before we leave".        You couldnt make it up.

Seriously,we have a grandson who will soon be old enough to holiday with us and it is for his health and enjoyment that I feel strongly enough to urge the club to look more closely into this prevelant behaviour and sanction offending owners somehow.
