Dartford Crossing

I am driving down to Dover on Sunday and this morning tried to pay for my crossings on the internet. All went well until I tried to enter my card details, the rectangular box in which to type did not appear and even though I tried clicking around that area nothing persuaded it to appear! I tried on my iPad and MacBook. Has anyone else had this problem or been aware that the site did not work?

Yes I had this challenge back in May.

Extremely frustrating.

In the end I called the help number and paid for it over the phone and on our return back from France we took the southerly route on the M25 thus avoiding the bridge and tunnel.

They have a problem and the customer services seemed unphased when I mentioned that the site did not seem to work.

Enjoy your holidays!

Hi Rob

250 miles a day is quite a comfortable distance to drive in France as traffic conditions are usually so much better than in the UK.

We regularly drive down to Beziers where my brother lives, and beyond to the Valencia area of Spain.  The secret is to get an early start, take a good break for lunch and then plan to arrive at 3pm to give time to relax/sightsee followed by a leisurely evening meal.

My route preference would be to travel on the A75 via Millau rather than the A6/A7 via Lyons which can get very congested.  The A75 is a very scenic route and is toll free from just south of Clermont Ferrand to Beziers, apart from the toll for the Millau Viaduct.

Happy travels.
