Whilst visiting Strathclyde site recently I on 2 occasions saw a police patrol vehicle driving around the site, reassuring for some I am sure but as a serving officer I know this would only have been done in response to a perceived need. After identifying myself to the officers I was advised to secure all property external to the caravan. Good advice obviously. As I had 2 valuable mountain bikes and a kayak on top of the car I left the vans external light on overnight to discourage 'visitors'. I feel it is now time for the CC to make available to members reported crime figures for every site to ensure members are aware of the risks at the time of booking. Whilst not all sites are within an urban environment as Strathclyde is , many are , as we all carry property ,bikes etc often on the back or on top of our cars they are vulnerable. LETS ALL BE VIGILANT
