Club prices getting silly

I'm not one who normally complains about site fees. It's quite simple - you either accept them, or you don't! We are both fortunate in that we are retired with good pensions and don't have to count the 'pennies' too much.  However, I have just attempted to book two nights at Broadway as a stop-over on our way to Devon, next June. For two people on a normal hardstanding pitch on 5 June (not a peak holiday period), we are being asked to pay £39.40 and for the following night, £35.10 - that's over £74 for two nights.  Compare that with 14 nights at the C&CC site at Dartmouth - which is lovely and just as good, if not better than most CAMC sites - for £311.

I think this is ridiculous and will be looking elsewhere.

That said, I am not averse to paying premium prices if it seems justified - we will be paying something like £37pn at Sandringham, this Christmas - but I would expect that at that time of year due to increased demand - but not in what I see as a 'low/mid season' period.

I don't use Club sites very often and if this is the way things are going, together with the threat of introducing deposits I can't see me using them at all in the future.

Rant over - but I think this is a step too far.

I have just got back from an 8 day 835 mile round trip to the Scotish border and back. I used 4 sites and deliberately avoided the Club sites on the way back because of silly prices (I have alerted he Club to this fact) Outward I stayed at a good commercial site £6 per night cheaper than the on route Club site I used for a couple of nights, A CL both outward and homeward and a C&CC homeward at less than half the price per night of the Club sites I considered. None of these sites were any better or worse than the Club sites.

If the Club wants to attract motorhomes for short stays they have got to find a way of making it cheaper.

So... what evidence is there that the club is not attracting motor-homes, for short or long stays (I can't see the price difference btw?)

As long as pitches are selling, I don’t think the club cares if it’s motorhomes or caravans, short stays or long stays.🤷🏻‍♂️

Perhaps this maybe the case, if it doesn't care then it needs to remove the "Motorhome" from its name and it has wasted a lot of money on providing motorhome service points.

That is not what TW was alluding to was it? As I read it the doesn't care referrer to length of stay (which doesn't have a price difference as you suggest?) or who it sells a pitch to. It provides facilities for either,  such as a MHSP,  and then it's up to 'us' to pay or not. A lot of MHs and caravans do seem to pay.

The Club is getting greedy with its charges and pricing people to look elsewhere, I recently had a 5 night stay for £71.50 in Tenby with electric ,hard stand with water and drainage.

I would be more concerned that the Club is not in control of its costs rather than greed RK.

My next booked trip is to a comercial site for 6 nights at £25p.n. I use it quite regularly and it is every bit as good if not better than a Club site. The nearset Club site for the same dates is £31.10p.n. and does not have as much going for it as the commercial site in that it is not close to facilities.

I took that to equate to £14.30 pn but realised that no club site is that cheap so obviously it was a per night figure. More fool him for paying it. I would have found somewhere else.

Can you please name the site if it is good enough to recommend?

I like Club sites, mainly because of their situations and have plans to stay for over 60 nights at various sites this year.

Currently on a two Club site holiday in the Cotswolds. The first site is charging £38 a night for  motorhome and 2 adults, next Club site will be £44 a night. Total for an 11 day holiday over £450. I planned to stay for 12 nights but because of the cost I cancelled  the last day of the holiday to save £44....A lose/lose for the Club and me

Additionally my hardstanding pitch on the current site is old, tired and quite small. It was the best I could get. But others are on much larger newly laid pitches for the same price.

Funny way to run a business

Would that be Moreton-in-Marsh?  Or maybe Cirencester?   We have experienced being left with only the old smaller pitches on both those sites.
