CL inspections

We booked a CL back in March for a ten day stay. Upon arriving today we were most annoyed to find SIX OTHER UNITS pitched, who clearly were not leaving. We were expected as well, since there was a stake with our name on it where we, THE SEVENTH were expected to set up ! Needless to say, we didn't.

Are there no checks ,especially in ' honey pot' areas like the South West , especially with the boom in 'staycationing'.

The owner was most put out on finding that we wouldn't be stopping, claiming that she could have let the spot many times over.  Not without breaking the rules, she couldn't!

It would appear that a minority of posters on this thread resent the fact that I raised this issue in the first place - and even more they felt that It shouldn't have been reported to the Club.

I am not a 'serial moaner'.  I joined the club in 1979 and have used (almost exclusively) Cls throughout the following 42 years.

Not ONCE have I felt it neccessary to raise a complaint about a CL - or anything else - with the club in all that time !

As you say a minority of posters GT, the majority however support your post and actions. It needed to be done in my view.

If I had to queue to reach the top of Snowdon I might start to think about where tourism has gone wrong and where less is more for some of us and why a 5 van CL is attractive. smile

If you saw the wildlife programme that included Snowdon the other week you are too late as that is just what they had to dosurprised

You have come up against the vocal minority, that in all walks of life tend to spoil most things that the majority agree withundecided

Yes I know that JVB, my post was a bit tongue in cheek regarding tourism and planning.

There has been talk(in Wales) of banning the tourists temporarily due to the destruction & litter apparently it is swiftly moving from a national treasure to a theme park.

Trimmer - I agree with you but the reality is, there is no scrutiny  on numbers certainly by the local auth, planning offices and as far as I can see by the club. It is as it is with I suspect this year more excess numbers than previous. Cant see anything changing.

What you did GT was for the good of everyone, not just the ones who think they’re gangsters who don’t like anyone ‘snitching’ to the Law🙄. CL’s are a gift to all with the option of going it alone to increase campers. I’ve used the multi occupancy camp grounds-only the once mind.

You will see change fish when folk who pay for the peace & quiet continue to be put upon I will ask why there is more than 5 LV’s if it’s a good charitable reason I’ll have no issues or need to complain👍🏻

I know that’s why I reported it complete with a couple of photos.

And what happened? Has the offending CL been closed? Or is it still open ?
