CC sites value for money?

I have long been a fan of CC sites as you are guaranteed a very high standard of site.  However I am increasingly finding that the cost of staying on  a club site is becoming prohibitive.

On 3 occassions this year alone with a little bit of research I have been able to locate high quality private sites in the same locality for a fraction of the price.

I did have a fully serviced pitch booked for Oct half term on a club site, the cost of which was in the region of £160 but have since booked a fully serviced pitch on a Practical Caravan "Site of the year" with more facilities just a few miles away for under £110.
