Hello,

We will be travelling from Castleton CAMC site to Buxton CAMC site. We will obviously avoid Winnats Pass but could anyone tell me, who has done the journey, the best route with a motorhome please ?

Thanks in advance,

Juley

Back along the A6187 to Hope then South on the B6049 to Tideswell, over the A623, still on the B6049 to the A6 Turn rt towards Buxton then left onto the A5270 to the A515 and within 1/4 ml left onto the B5053 and immediately right onto side road through Harpur Hill and onto the club site, approaching from the East. You will avoid going through Buxton this way and without losing height.

No problem.

If I were you I would have a look at the route on Google Maps, or similar, to see if it suits, and it will give you ideas of where each junction is.

Thank you. Yes have done alot of looking at the maps. Just want to avoid our journey to the site at Castleton whereby I followed the route which I got from the CAMC route planner and it took us on a very " interesting " 9 mile stretch of road coming from the east that was a tad challenging. We were in a motorhome so were OK but would not want to have done it towing a caravan. I would have thought that their routes would take into account the fact that we were driving a motorhome or towing a caravan ! 😀

TiW, it is always best to follow the instructions written for each individual site, be it on line or in the Sit Directory, and ignore the route planner. Whatever you do don't rely on one's sat nav when nearing the site!!!😊
