Camping Cheques in the UK

We don't tend to tour very often in the UK but recently visited a caravan park near Bucklesham that accepted Camping Cheques.  On arrival we were informed that we would have to pay £3.50 per night extra for any type of awning, be it full awning/sun canopy etc.  We informed the owner that generally, when travelling in Europe, the Camping Cheque fee paid for a standard pitch and anything else you wanted to use.  The owner was adamant and we only stayed for one night.

On returning home I tried to check the conditions with Camping Cheque but could only ascertain that the Camping Cheque was for a standard pitch.

I would be interested if anyone else has encountered this sort of problem and your thoughts.
