Booking app on iPad

This has been mentioned several times before but I'm still getting the 'application exception' error on the App on my iPad.

I've downloaded the latest version and it then works for a couple of minutes. It's when I use map view, quite important when looking at specific areas, but it just breaks every time.I use 'show CL data', perhaps the app can't cope with the volume of sites?

im not going to keep 'clearing all my data' as this is a pain when reusing other sites/apps.

looking through the app revisions there's no mention of this issue which has been around for many months (years?).

I assume I'm not the only one with this issue?

this is incredibly frustrating as we are looking at some CLs for a short tour.

please could someone report this thread and bring it to Ro's attention.

edit: the same map view with CLs seems to be holding up when using the website rather than the App🤷🏻‍♂️

Thanks again, that's a great piece of work. I've seen similar googlemap overlays with MH pub stopovers etc.

another clue for the developers.....

I tried the App just now for a fair while on the iPad HOWEVER I used it in PORTRAIT mode rather than my usual LANDSCAPE....it seems to work.

conclusion, the app has been developed and tested (to destruction?) on a phone which is virtually always used in Portrait mode.

this seems to be a workaround but it's not satisfactory and can't be difficult to fix.

Ro hasn't commented that she's seen this and passed it on....

having bugs in the tech that brings you bookings can't be a good thing, this needs fixing.

if Nellie hadn't given me the above link I'd be binning the app...the PORTRAIT workaround was just luck.

Whoops!

half an hour of use and it crashed in portrait mode too. Trouble is, you then either have to kill all your cache and data, or delete and reload the app.

come on CAMC, let's get on it....please. This is a serious issue.

Hi Young Thomas, I'm sorry to hear you are having issues using the App. I have reported this to be investigated. In the meantime if you clear your cache it should work.

Hi Ro, thanks for passing the issue on. Yes, clearing cache does work but it's a pain on an iPad as it also clears data from other websites that means you often need to retrieve passwords etc...

in fact, deleting the app and reloading it does a similar job without upsetting other stored info.
