Awnings

Just noticed something this evening. When you click on “Find a UK Campsite”, a green banner right at the top of the page comes up. Up to today, that banner has read “Children under Five, Dogs and Awnings no charge on Club Sites”. Tonight, the mention of awnings has disappeared. Not certain this is the only place I have seen this banner, but wherever it was, there was a definite mention of awnings being free.

I do know that charging for awnings is currently under review, this is in the FAQS section, right at the top of the page. Just wondering if the review results are imminent.

I thought that the reason behind Bunree was it didn't spoil the view for those behind? Awnings were/are also banned on the sea side pitches at Garlieston I recall when we were there, and Whitehouse beach but that may have been changed very recently I think?

I totally get those instances but they are not for fire break issues, purely consideration and respect for others. This can only apply on sites like those mentioned which have such beautiful vistas. Stayed at Bunree several times and have nothing but admiration for the way this ‘rule’ is appreciated by all. You takes your choice, front row or awning! That’s if you can get booked on in the first place. What about an extra full sea view charge like hotels make. But seriously, we are talking about extra charging for pitches which can accommodate a conventional awning arrangement.

No 😂

Our MH is 2.21 and we had about 30 cm (gestimate) each side.

Phew! I had visions of you & MrsL holding a tape measure between the pegs 😉😉

In the only two peg site I've been on there was two hand spans either way from my caravan to the peg line, I have to confess I've just measured that and that's about 8 inches or 21 cm.

That doesn't surprise me at all ... 🙄

PS 8" is nearer 200mm than 210mm (cm isn't a SI unit) 🙂

And why do I have to use SI units, is that a new CT rulesmile I do certainly use them when in maths or physics but for everyday day use cm is acceptable?

And for the record (as you started it and now probably wishing you didn't) stricky speaking the are seven base units in SI and is mm isn't one of them.

but cm and mm, Km... are what are called prefixes of SI units.

Glad we did feet and inches when I was at school, it sounds easier.

I'm beginning to wonder why I went to the O2 last night to watch Prof Brain Cox . With all the measurements , maths etc on this post , it would have been cheaper to stay at home.😀😀.

however MH can/may use a wind out awning on a non awning pitch but may have to be rolled in at night

Surely the same can apply to a caravan too, not just to M/Hs.
