Awning charges

Booking our breaks this season I have noticed that in addition to pitch fee increases (not CC sites) there has been an increase in awning charges and in some cases awning fees being charged for the first time.

Does anyone else feel that when you have booked an expensive pitch area, you should be allowed to pitch anything within reason on the area that you have paid for.

Can anyone justify charging a fee for an awning, as I see no detriment to the site owner in using one.
