I have inflamatory arthritis and because of this find it musch easier to use the accessible facilities however having been to quite a few club sites now I really think it is time the club carried out a full audtit of its facilities and in doing so sought the views of those needing them.
A few things I have noticed:-
facilities being shared use with families leaving the space cramped with little space to manouver.
shower curtains - not a bad thing until you realise that the enclose an area which is totally inadequate when you are sat on the chairs provided because your knees stick out
shower heads that are inflexible or imovable - they need to be able to come down if you are sitting down and also need to be able to be held in the hand
hairdryers which are so far away from the mirror it is of no use
locks on the doors which are fiddle - ALL facilities should use the radar key system. These are bigger and easier to use than standard locks and keys.
Charging deposits for keys! Big bug bear.
Missing or broken chairs for sitting in the shower
poorly placed or lack of coat pegs - bear in mind some people are in wheelchairs others aren't!
poorly placed toilet paper/soap dispensers/dryers etc etc etc
draughts! some sites have massive gaps under the doors - not an issue in the normal loos as there are usually two doors.
I will leave it at that although I can think of more. Does anyone else think this is an issue?
