A82 Loch Lomond

Hi, I'm new on this forum so hope I'm asking in the right place?

In early August I'll be travelling from near Ayr to Bunree with a medium (7.5m) motorhome towing a Smart car. I've seen advise elsewhere to avoid the A82 along Lomondside with this size outfit. What do previous users think? The obvious alternative is M80 to Stirling then A84/85 to Crianlarich and pick up intended route. Either way I see the biggest chore as getting through Paisley/Glasgow!
