well, in one of our very first French lessons (c. 1964) we learnt that we lived in 'Royaume-Uni'....

It might have been in recent years, but A B M is thinking of days when Commander James BOND was still only a very junior Sea Cadet, Honest  wink

 I bet you don't come across many people in France that use the term Royaume-Uni though. It's all Angleterre to them.

A bit like we often refer to Holland and really the country is the Netherlands!
