Tulips from Amsterdam

I visited the Netherlands many times on business and will pass on a couple of tips.  Never stayed at any sites but as the Dutch are Europe's best campers I doubt there would be any problems finding an excellent site.

We visited Keukenhof gardens about this time last year to see the tulips.  The flower festival was last week but it will still be busy.  Dutch public transport is excellent and you can get to the gardens by bus transfer from Lisse.  The problem is it all takes a long time.  By the time we got there we were shoulder to shoulder; very unpleasant. So, choose an unpopular time  - weekday, VERY early or late.

Also, I suppose Amsterdam is a must see but personally I dislike it and find it grossly over-rated. Try Delft.
