(Moved from UK Campsites and Touring)

Hi wondered whether anyone could advise us. My husband and l are travelling down to Montpellier. Our ferry leaves Dover at 14.45pm and arrives at Calais at 17.15 (not sure whether thats France time) Not sure how long it takes to actually leave ferry and start our journey, anyway my question is. Im worried to travel too far from Calais as like l said by the time we get out of Port and get going it will be quite late and we would have been travelling all day from 6am in the morning my husband says he will be ok to drive a couple of hundred miles once we arrive im not so sure especially as we will be a foreign country and not know our bearings and he will be probably quite tired. I suggested we stay not far out of Calais in a campsite then get up refreshed to start the next day. I suggested two stops to get us there ( l know he would want to get there sooner) can anyone suggest two stops to get there a small journey to the first stop from Calais. Also wondered whether anyone could advise us on our journey decision we thought from Calais A26, A1, A4, A10. A71, A75 to Montpellier. Also are campsites ok with arriving late or do they like you there early afternoon.
