Relevance of Alan Rogers to Overseas trip

Well, we are planning our summer holiday for four weeks end of July and most of August. In previous years as it is always peak time we have booked all the ferry, sites and Red Pennant through the Club. Now we hear about the Club using our money to buy Alan Rogers, what use is this to me as it is supposed to improve our overseas experience. Any information gratefully received.
