Patisserie moins cher

On this forum I moaned about the cost of my favourite "tarte aux fraises" at French patisseries; between 2.20 to 2.40 Euros over most of France. This morning in the restaurant of the nation's favourite store (never knowingly undersold), strawberry tarts were £3.50 - yes, that's each, not per dozen.  Maybe France is not so dear after all?

By the way, for those not familiar with the customs of our French neighbours, Sunday is cake day. Amusing to see a large farm worker coming out of the shop with a dainty litle cake box tied with ribbon and dangling from his finger! Flower shops are also open Sunday mornings.
