‘Outrages’ and ‘Ruffles’

Down here on the Corniche des Maures we started the week on Sunday with an Orage (thunderstorm) and then Monday to Wednesday we’ve had a force 5 wind with Rafales (gusts) to force 7. Although it’s been sunny and hot, the wind has kept folk off the beach, and the yachts in harbour. The upside has been that al fresco TV watchers have been driven inside their ‘vans!

Today the wind has subsided into a gentle zephyr and all normal seaside activity has resumed. There’s rain forecast for next Thursday when the annual open-air popular music festival is to take place on the promenade and around the Port.

We’re in no hurry to head North ( we don’t sail for another 4 weeks) so it’s hard not to say “let’s stay put and tough it out” Is anyone else facing the same dilemma in our neighbourhood?
