Check out ‘park4night’ or ‘Campercontact’’ Apps, there’s bound to be a number of options. 

There's an Aire Camping-Car Park 30 km from the rugby ground in Marseille at Sausset-les-Pins which can be pre-booked.  Should be secure behind the barrier and there's safety in numbers.

There are daytime trains from Sausset les Pins into Marseille but it’s going to be an expensive taxi back after an evening game as there are no evening trains back again as far as I know, but do check train timetable to confirm. 

Thanks everyone. Looking like there is a storage/site nearby. Mixed reviews but we'll take a look at that. I've also just got the park4night app and will check there. 

I also am travelling to Marseille for a week for the Rugby world cup - really struggling here to find anything secure- lots of concerns and worries ahead it seems- would love to get any shared information please
