Language Please?

I was recently reading some site reviews on another web-site. The sites reviewed were French and some of the British reviewers were quite critical because the owners/staff didn't speak any English.

Personally I thought it was rather arrogant.to expect everyone to speak English just for the convenience of British campers.

Surely, having a go at the local language is part of the fun of trips abroad. Like when you carefully rehearse what you have to say to someone, then say it, and then get totally overwhelmed by the torrent of words that comes back at you in reply.  Happy

Hilarious if you use the wrong word completely. A lady friend of mine holidaying in Spain, once asked for the bishop in her room to be removed. The Spanish for bishop is 'obispo' and the word for wasp is 'avispa'!!   Happy

What do others think? Any funny stories?
