Having done our 'GrandTour' this year over five months - see here http://blog.travelpod.com/travel-blog/lynnib/1/tpod.html we are looking to do a two-month trip next year In May/June, so as to avoid the mad, busy high summer period.  One possibility is to do more of  Italy since we didn't get further south than Rome.  Before I get too carried away with research, I would welcome any guidance and tips for touring southern Italy by car/caravan as a few people have advised against it on account of the quality of roads, 'shabby' locations, the 'poor south', and so on.

At the moment, we are thinking Puglia (to see the trulli houses), Bay of Naples, more of Rome, before returning to Southern Tuscany, then Cinque Terre which we left out this year.  Suggestions for any other 'must sees' welcome too.
