German Speed camera legislation

It is a little known fact that using a device in Germany to show or detect speed cameras is technically illegal.  This covers both Sat Navs and specialist detectors.  I have just come across this post in another forum, which I think might interest members touring in Germany.

"The German Transport Minister, Peter Ramsauer, has announced that they are looking into legalising speed camera warning systems.

At present the German law is a grey area - speed camera warnings are currently illegal according to German law but it is up to each state/area to decide if they will adopt this law and so far, none have.

The proposals seek to allow the use of location-based warning systems but still keep actual radar detectors illegal."
