First time in our motorhome abroad - europe tour?

Hi all,

Just seeking some advice about taking our motorhome abroad for the first time.  We have booked the tunnel to calais and are hoping to go to Italy via a few other european countries.

We went to the Pyrenese last Oct in a landy wth a roof tent and had a great time. We didnt book any campsites and never found that to be a problem.

We are hoping to do the same this time but I am a little worried that August will be busier and therefore some sites may be full? Has anyone ever found this to be a problem?

Also does anyone have any tips/places we should visit? We have a 3 year old son and love the more 'natural campsites'.
