E19 Motorway Warning

On page 43 of the Club Magazine (July 2012) is a warning about safety and security on and around the E19 connecting the Channel Ports to Holland.

I have used this route for the past few years (including last July) with no problem whatsoever so I am wondering whether this is a recent problem?

I am planning a trip to Düsseldorf and Holland for later in the year and will be using this route again.  I am grateful to the Caravan Club and the Foreign and Commonwealth Office for the alert and will, as usual, drive from Dunkirk to Düsseldorf non-stop (it's only 3 hours of easy driving) - although there will probably be a toilet break once we get into Germany Happy.

Has anyone else got a different experience of driving this route to me?

I think it is very unwise to stop in any country to give assistance (including the UK) - as much as I would like to do so.  I have driven past several breakdowns previously and always feel wracked with guilt for so doing - especially as I served with an emergency service for 32 years!

My advice is to drive past and call the police.  That way if people need help they will receive it and, if it's a scam, maybe the creeps will get caught!
