We have just returned from month trip to Western Balkans and will be happy to reccomend few places.

CROATIA : avoid Istria without booking as number of spaces is limited, prices high and no access to coastline for overnight wild camping which in general is restricted in Croatia. From Rijeka take old coastal route (max height 3.5m due to low bridge) and camp overnight in Bakarac - paved public parking bay with direct access to sea, public beach and free fresh water (beach shower with tap). 30 minutes further down South you`ll find Camp Punta in Povile located on small rocky peninsula with amazing view and good standard. Prices (first week in August 2013) - motorhome,3 adults,2 children, electricity - 800 Kuna (£92) for 3 nights. Access to wild camping spots along ROUTE 8 is limited during season but not impossible as on Istria. Further down South you`ll find UNESCO location - OLD TOWN of TROGIR 12miles up North from Split. There are few rather expensive parking spaces with access to Old Town and they are all around £5/hr which makes 24hrs stop-over rather expensive. Comming down towards Trogir centre from Split and within few hundred yards from Old Town you`ll find FIRST gated-entrance parking space with access to public beach,shower,24 hrs beach bar and awfull toilets. If you`ll enter and report to parking attendant`s booth straight away (as early AM as open if closed overnight) you`ll pay only 150 kunas (£19) for 24hrs stay and don`t let them scam you its not possible as its written in CROATIAN on booth window but you have to pay on entrance , otherwise you`d have to pay £60 to leave parking space if you won`t pay up front. Insist if they`ll say NO PROBLEM _ LATER OK and take receipt with you and gate card to be able to leave later. This is the only parking space in Trogir with facilities and public beach in one.
