Today we left Dune de Pyla and towed to Lit en Mixe, heading for les Vignes. When we arrived, it was to be told that they no longer had touring pitches, and had not done so since the beginning of the year. In the book, they are described as new this year. They then directed us 20 miles north, to Mimizan, to Camping Eurolac, part of the same chain. Guess what? They no longer take tourers either, and they sent us to Camping Aurilandes, just up the road, also part of the same group. This surprised us, as in the book that campsite closes today, but no, that is wrong, too. They are open until the end of September. The moral of this story is check before you go. I had looked on line at les Vignes, but I had not picked up on the fact that they no longer have touring pitches. Suffice to say, we were not happy. A wasted morning and a lot of wasted deisel. However, it's still hot and sunny, and the pool beckons.
